Our Story

Since 1983, The Serving Spoon has served up soulful, home-cooked comfort food to the Inglewood community. Founded by Harold E. Sparks, it’s grown from a neighborhood favorite into a beloved institution, now proudly in its third generation under siblings Justin Johnson and Jessica Bane. In 2026, that legacy was recognized with the James Beard Foundation’s America’s Classics Award.

Breakfast Done Right

Folks line up for our breakfast, creamy, buttery grits and catfish fried golden and crispy on the outside, tender inside. Simple food made with care.

Our Culture

Community, family, and teamwork are how we operate every day. We treat our staff like family and every guest like a neighbor. Above all, we live by one principle: everyone who walks through our doors should leave better than they came.

If you want a delicious home cooked breakfast don't walk, run here now! You won't be disappointed with the waffle, wings, eggs and muddy water. They had the classics playing today.

Super friendly staff and the vibe was amazing! My aunts absolutely loved their liver and onions. They kept saying how it reminded them of my grandma's cooking.

This place is absolutely amazing. My wife says best breakfast ever. Bacon is extra crispy, French toast is soooo good. Eggs and hash browns are perfect.
